YPCV Spotlight - Meredith Colley
Name: Meredith Colley
Job Title: Diagnostic Mammographer
How long have you been in Lynchburg? 12 years
Tell us about your professional role: I’m a Diagnostic Mammographer for Centra Breast Imaging. My job duty is assisting in breast biopsies, breast needle localizations for lumpectomies, and performing diagnostic mammograms. I love the fact that I’m making a difference in patient’s lives and actually helping save lives on a daily basis.
What do you enjoy in your spare time? I love spending time with my family and friends (that includes my coworkers). I enjoy walking the trails or climbing the monument terrace steps Downtown for exercise. I love mountain biking our local trails which New London Trails are my favorite. I’ve recently started my MBA through University of Lynchburg so that keeps me busy on the regular. When I’m able, I enjoy volunteering with Lynchburg Grows, the people that I have met and worked with are amazing! Also, I appreciate spending time at one of the local churches.
Who or what inspires you? The person who inspires me the most is absolutely my mother, hands down. She was a single mother with two children working and raising them on her own. After 40 plus years in her career my mom was elected the first female Circuit Court Clerk of my hometown. She taught me how to be a strong, independent woman, a hard worker, while demonstrating good character.
What's a fun fact about you? Over my entire life span I’ve endured 13 surgeries but you would never know it but looking at me or knowing me unless I told you. I think those obstacles have made me more driven and stronger. It’s the reason for my passion to work in the Healthcare field.
Why did you join YPCV? I wanted to get out more and meet professionals around my age in the area in different career fields. During COVID-19, YPCV offered virtual webinars that helped me meet other professionals, learn interesting aspects of the working field, and helped me with my Career Ladder at work. It’s opened new doors for me.
